SkillsUSA Collision Contests
Free Practice Tests for All Three
The written knowledge test in Collision Repair Technology, Collision Damage Appraisal and Automotive Refinishing Technology is ASE content. Here are 150 free questions drawn from the exact content areas each technical standard names.
We Want to Be Part of This
We would like to support the SkillsUSA collision contests and take the written knowledge test off your plate, from the regional rounds through state and on to nationals.
Every collision contest carries a written test, and every one of them is ASE content. We already write, host and score tests like it every day. Here is what we are offering to carry at each level, and all of it is built by someone who sits on the judging side of the table.
Get them ready before they compete
- 150 free practice questions, live today, no account and nothing to buy
- A practice written test an advisor can run in class the week before
- Every question mapped to a content area the technical standard names
Run the written test on contest day
- Competitors sign in with their contestant number, nothing else
- One hour on the clock, full screen, submitted automatically at time
- Answers stay hidden from competitors and go straight to the judges
Score it and hand the committee the numbers
- A printable score sheet per contestant for the judges' packet
- Which questions the field missed, so the next test writes itself
- The committee's own questions can be loaded instead of ours
Try the questions below first, then tell us which contests and which level you want covered this season. We will build it around your rules, not ours.

This is not a general collision quiz with a SkillsUSA label on it. Every SkillsUSA collision technical standard carries a Knowledge Performance section stating where the contest's written test comes from, and in all three it is ASE content, named area by area. Collision Repair Technology, for one:
“The competition includes a general knowledge test provided by ASE covering Collision Repair areas that are identified in the ASE Education Foundation Collision Repair/Refinishing Program Standards and the ASE Official Study Guide: Collision Repair/Refinish.”
SkillsUSA Collision Repair Technology technical standard, Knowledge PerformanceOur question bank is organised by those same ASE content areas, because both come from the same ASE task list. That makes the match checkable rather than claimed. Here is every area each contest names, and how many of the free questions cover it:
- Preparation9
- Outer Body Panel Repairs, Replacements, and Adjustments9
- Metal Finishing and Body Filling8
- Glass and Hardware8
- Welding, Cutting, and Removal8
- Plastic Repair8
- Damage Analysis8
- Estimating7
- Legal and Environmental Practices7
- Vehicle Construction7
- Vehicle Systems Knowledge7
- Parts Identification and Source Determination7

Content areas read from the technical standards in the 2024–26 cycle. Advisors should check the current standard on SkillsUSA Pathful, since the areas are reviewed each cycle.
From the Florida State Contest
These are photographs from the SkillsUSA Florida state collision contests, taken by Mr. Hernandez while advising and judging. These are the students the written test is written for.

For Advisors and State Directors
If you run a regional or state collision contest, the written test is usually the part that takes the most of your time and gets the least of your attention. Here is what is on the table, at no cost to a SkillsUSA association, chapter or advisor.
A free practice test you can link
The three pages above are public and permanent. Put the link in your contest packet or on your state site and every competitor in the state can study the right content areas before they arrive.
A written test built to your contest
We can supply a contest written test drawn from the content areas your technical standard names, at the length you want, with an answer key and a per-area breakdown. Ours to build, yours to own and keep confidential.
Scoring you can defend
Every question carries the reason the answer is right, so a competitor who challenges a score can be shown the ground it stands on. Per-area results tell an advisor what to teach next year.
Free access for your competitors
We provide full simulator access for a state's collision competitors in the run-up to the contest. The students who place are the ones who studied, and this is the studying part.
To talk it through, send a message through this site and it reaches Mr. Hernandez directly.
Who Is Behind It
Why this exists
This platform was built for the students in one collision program, to give them a real way to practice for the ASE B-Series. It turns out the SkillsUSA contests test the same content areas, so the same work serves a competitor. Offering it to SkillsUSA is not a sales move: the stronger a state's collision competitors are, the stronger the whole trade gets, which is the same reason the committee work and the fundraising for local programs happen.
