Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect & How We Use It

To provide you with access to the ASE Collision Test Prep platform, we collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and usage data when you register and interact with our platform:

• Account & Demographic Information: Your First and Last Name, Email Address, Phone Number (optional), Physical Address (street and city optional; state and ZIP code required), Date of Birth (to confirm you are 14 or older), and Professional Information such as your role, school, shop and the ASE certifications you hold. We use your state and ZIP code to understand where our students are.
• Service Delivery & Communication: We use your information to provide access to our proprietary study materials, send transactional emails (like password resets and receipts), and, only if explicitly consented to, send promotional materials and study reminders via email or SMS.
• Testing Telemetry: Data regarding your practice test scores, time spent on questions, and specific category weaknesses. We use this strictly to power your personalized dashboard and generate Adaptive Weakness Drills.
• Device Information: General browser type and IP address used for security monitoring and fraud prevention to ensure accounts are not illegally shared.
• iPhone App: The app also keeps an anonymous crash report when it closes unexpectedly (Firebase Crashlytics, tied to your account so we can fix the problem you hit), a notification token so we can send the study reminders you turn on, the photos or PDFs you choose to upload (for example an ASE certificate letter), the messages you send to support, and the record of each App Store purchase so your access is granted.
• Screenshot and Screen Recording Log: To protect our licensed material, the app records each screenshot or screen recording taken anywhere in the app, with the time and what was showing. The log is used only to enforce the rules in our Terms of Use.
• How the site is used (analytics): we use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to see which pages are used and where people get stuck. Clarity also records an anonymised replay of how a page was used (where a cursor moved, what was clicked, how far the page was scrolled); it masks text input by default, and we never use it to watch an individual student. Both run only after you accept non-essential cookies.
• Advertising (free student plan only): the free plan funded by a school access code shows Google AdSense advertisements between questions. Google may use cookies to pick those advertisements. A paid plan carries no advertisements at all.
• One free code per person: when you redeem a free student access code we store a one-way scrambled form of your phone number and email address so the same person cannot claim a second free code. It cannot be turned back into your number or your address, and it is used for nothing else.
• Text message verification: if we text you a code to confirm your cell phone, the code and the time it was sent are stored on your account until it is used. This is a security check, not marketing.
• Location (optional): When you allow it, our website and iPhone app take one reading of your location at sign-up and whenever you open "Near You". We use it to show the closest ASE test centers, verified shops and schools, and we store your coordinates, city and state on your account so your instructor can see where students are located. You can decline the request and every other feature still works; on iPhone you can turn it off at any time under Settings, Privacy, Location Services. We never share your location with advertisers or data brokers.

2. What Other People Can See

Most of what we hold is private to your account. These are the places where another person sees something about you, so you know before you use them.

• The Top Performing Technicians leaderboard: every signed-in student sees your full name as you typed it at registration, your city and state, your role, your school or shop name, your number of right and wrong answers, and your accuracy percentage, for each ASE module you have answered questions in. You appear as soon as you answer your first question. If you would rather not be shown that way, change the name on your account under Your Details on your dashboard, or contact us and we will remove you from the board.
• Class Mode (only if you join a class): if you enter an instructor's class code, that instructor sees your name, your progress, your accuracy, your weakest content areas, your streak, your test date, and your lesson and lab grades. Nobody outside that class sees it, and you are never placed in a class without entering the code yourself.
• Enterprise and shop managers: if your access was bought and provisioned by your employer, your testing telemetry and pass probability are visible to that manager. An account you bought yourself is never shared with an employer.

3. Payment Processing

We believe in absolute financial security. ASE Collision Test Prep does not process, handle, or store your credit card information on our servers.

All financial transactions are securely routed through and vaulted by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. Stripe handles your payment data in accordance with their stringent, PCI-compliant privacy policies.

Purchases made inside the iPhone app are handled by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the purchase record Apple signs (what was bought and when), never your card or Apple ID payment details.

4. Data Storage & Sharing

We strictly do NOT sell, rent, or trade your Personally Identifiable Information to third-party data brokers. Your data is securely stored using industry-standard encryption and is only shared with essential infrastructure partners required to operate the platform:

• Google Cloud (Firebase): Used for secure cloud hosting, highly-encrypted database management, and authentication.
• Stripe: Used exclusively for processing subscription payments and verifying active access tiers.
• Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity: receive usage data about how the site is used, as described above.
• Google AdSense: serves the advertisements on the free student plan.
• Address suggestions (Photon, by komoot, using OpenStreetMap data): when you type a street address in Your Details on the dashboard, the letters you type are sent to this free address search so it can suggest matching addresses. Only the typed text is sent, never your name, email or account.
• Enterprise/Shop Managers: If your account subscription was explicitly purchased and provisioned by your employer via our Enterprise Tier, your testing telemetry and pass probabilities will be visible to your shop manager. Individual private accounts are never shared with employers.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

Our platform relies on essential cookies and browser local storage to keep you logged in securely and to maintain your active session while you navigate between the dashboard and the Prometric simulators. Beyond those essential ones, the cookies we set are the analytics and advertising cookies named in section 1, and they load only if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change that choice at any time from the cookie icon at the bottom-left of any page. We do not sell your data and we do not run cross-site behavioural advertising of our own.

6. Your Data Rights & Deletion

You own your data. At any time, you have the right to request a complete deletion of your personal information. You can do this autonomously by clicking the "Delete Account" button securely located at the bottom of your Student Dashboard, or in the iPhone app under Settings.

Note: Deleting your account is a permanent action that will immediately erase your testing telemetry and terminate any active subscriptions without a refund.
